ESCO Consultation on skills in the transport sector launched

On 14 October 2015, the European Commission launched the consultation process for the development of ESCO (European Classification of Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations). As part of the Europe 2020 strategy, ESCO is a multilingual platform which identifies and categorises skills, competences, qualifications and occupations relevant for the EU labour market and education and training. A pilot version of ESCO was published in 2013. Currently the European Commission is developing ESCO v1 to be published by 2016, with the help of stakeholders.

ESCO covers all economic areas and is clustered in 27 sectors, 11 of which are already finalised. To develop the remaining 16 sectors, the European Commission is asking the advice and input of experts via the online consultation.

Online consultation period: 14/10/2015 - 09/12/2015

Target participants: European stakeholders with expertise in one economic sector and understanding of the terminology and structure of occupations, skills, competences and/or qualifications within that sector.
