The European Vocational Skills Week

This first European Vocational skills week will take place from 5 to 9 December 2016 in Brussels, in parallel with activities in Member States and other participating countries at national, regional and local levels, where these can be organised.

What is it about?

Through our Vocational Skills Week of European and national awareness-raising, we want to improve the attractiveness and image of vocational education and training. Vocational Education and Training (VET) should be seen as an equally good career choice as traditional higher education

Why are we doing this?

We want to show that VET can lead to

  • quality employment,
  • an entrepreneurial mindset,
  • attractive and challenging careers,
  • opportunities for up-skilling and re-skilling

What is the objective of the initiative?

We want to showcase the excellence and quality in VET, while raising awareness of the wide range of opportunities that VET provides.

When will it happen?

This first European Vocational skills week will take place from 5 to 9 December 2016 in Brussels, in parallel with activities in Member States and other participating countries at national, regional and local levels, where these can be organised

How will the initiative unfold?

We will have events in Brussels (press conference, conference, workshops, plenaries, closing event with award-giving), and all sort of events in Member States organised by different stakeholders. This will be underpinned with a sustained communication campaign.

Who will be involved?

We will invite all stakeholders: learners, parents, companies, business organisations, education and training providers, adult learning organisations, researchers, career counsellors, Member States and other participating countries, social partners, and society at large.
